With the temperature soaring,cooling off is what is on everyone’s mind. Guzzling many glasses of tender coconut water,buttermilk,water,lemonade etc is what seems to help most of us get through the day. So,when a friend and reader mentioned about a new ice-cream place that sold preservative free ice-creams,in unusual flavours…I thought ,why not check it out !
Located in Siddhapudhur,the interiors were as cool and refreshing as the product it endorsed. “Live to Eat’ is the name the franchise goes by and the same phrase is displayed inside on the door frame below a statue of happy Lord Ganesha !!! The seating is comfortable and the staff are cheerful and chatty and seem well informed of what they are serving ! The menu displayed the available flavours for the day. After tasting the green mirchi ice cream which left a cold spicy bite on the tongue,my companions settled on the fresh Strawberry and Oreo flavours ! They enjoyed it immensely and will definitely be going back for more ! If you must eat spice this summer,Green Chilli ice-cream is the way to go !
The Sweet paan ice-cream was highly recommended by both my cousin and a friend,but sadly they did not have it in stock.A perfect excuse for a second visit…what do you think ?!! I was mighty impressed at their commitment to serving natural ice-creams made with milk and real fruit pulp,nuts and dried fruit and more so with absolutely no preservatives,emulsifiers,essence or pumped-in air !!!! Here is definitely an ice-cream worth indulging in ! They also plan to introduce sugar free varieties as and when the demand rises. They did have a great variety to start of with…tender coconut , papaya, mango ,jack fruit , roasted kaju , fig n honey ,green mirchi ,horlicks ,Oreo , Belgium dark chocolate , guava , fresh strawberry ,butterscotch , black currant , banana….to name a few.
After talking to one of the partners Mr. Karthikraaja ,it’s obvious that they are committed to providing ice-creams that are hygienically prepared , 100 % vegetarian , natural and of the highest quality. I do wish him and his partners the very best and hope they succeed in maintaining these standards and continue to offer the people of Coimbatore these deliciously ‘healthy’ ice-creams ! The only minor drawback is the absence of parking and very little walking space in front of the store ! I hope they figure a way around that ! Go ahead, indulge and enjoy ! Slurp slurp :))
