Did you know that food photography can bring out hidden baker skills ? 😉 I kid you not ! I am not one for the patience required for lattice pies , rosettes and leaves. I love it immensely but oooh when it comes to doing it myself, it’s major intimidation.
So there I was, a whole bushel of organic apples with Uttarakand and well on my way to make our favourite apple crumble when it occurred to me that it had been awhile since a sweet galette saw the inside of my oven. As much as I love tried and tested recipes, for dishes like cookies, cake and pies I am always experimenting with new ones. This galette recipe is from Sally’s baking addiction. I will link to her website at the bottom. After the dough was made and chilled , it was around the rolling out point that I realised that the quiet around me gave me the perfect therapeutic time to get lost in a bit of lattice work…the young ones were cloistered away with friends (trading secrets and giggles), I was certain there was no need for “ma” for this or that !!!
I concentrated hard just so I could take the kind of pie pictures I wanted 😀
As you can see the lattice could be finer, prettier and not so rustic (lol) but it tasted great and baked to golden yumminess. That’s the reason I am sharing this recipe.
