Pear crumble

Pear crumble

The husband said there were too many nuts but the sister-in-law and I licked our spoons clean… the special ones even get a dollop of ice cream on the top ! 😉

It’s recipes like these which make me feel sad for people who say they don’t like nuts ! The texture of these baked pears is soft while still having lunch a toothsome texture. The crumble on the top which is a mix of monsoon harvest granola, emmer wheat flour , pecan nuts, cinnamon and natural sugar crystals is  like a whole other dessert mood. I am not even kidding.

There’s a certain romance in the air with the rains doing its thing outside and the kitchen coming alive with the warm aromas of cinnamon , pear and the sugar caramelising….I am not being dramatic I swear !

Yes there have been reports about South India being flooded with heavy rains but we are immensely grateful that we people living in Coimbatore (my home town) have nothing to complain on that account. We have had constant rains which have filled up the many tanks , lakes and wells which have been cleaned up, de-silted due to the hard work done by several NGOs in our city. It makes me proud to be a part of a community that takes water management very seriously. At home we are mindful of every drop of water used (not exaggerating )

And… because of that I get to romanticise the monsoons and indulge heady food cravings. You gotta love the planet….the eternal giver.
